Judge Nancy Kennedy

Judge Nancy Kennedy has a strong reputation for fairness. In the 2019 Dallas Bar Association Poll, Judge Kennedy received a 92% rating for impartiality. Judge Kennedy knows that the most important thing for anyone appearing before a court is trust that the process will be fair and that justice will be served. She will bring this same dedication to fairness to the Fifth District Court of Appeals.

Judge Kennedy has 20 years of combined legal and judicial experience, including handling cases at the appellate and federal levels. She has served as Presiding Judge of Criminal District Court 2 in Dallas County since 2017. Her background includes service as a criminal defense attorney and a prosecutor. Judge Kennedy is Board Certified in Criminal Law and is a graduate of SMU Law School.

Judge Kennedy believes that there is no place for bias in the courtroom. For justice to be served, there can be no undue influence from one side or the other of a dispute or case. She has earned a solid reputation for independent ruling that are based on the facts and the law, and she brings a balanced perspective to the bench. Her number one goal is making sure justice is served under the law.
